Yr 5/6 Federation Residential Week at Little Canada - Isle of Wight

On the 29th of October, Lynton, Parracombe and, Kentisbury’s Year 5 and 6 went on a Federation residential trip to ‘Little Canada’ on the Isle of Wight. It was a 5 day trip and we had lovely weather for it. The trip included, quad biking, circus skills, trapeze, Jacobs ladder, beach walk, problem solving, high ropes, abseiling, tunnel trail, Giant Swing and lots more.

For the activities we were split into four groups of 9 or 10. One of my favourite things was Jacob’s ladder. There were seven round planks of wood held together with chains. It was about 30 foot tall. We climbed in groups of 3 and it was all about team work. I got to the top, the other people on the ground were belaying, that meant that they had to keep the climbers ropes tight, so that they didn’t fall off. Another favourite was circus skills and, unlike Jacob’s ladder, you didn’t have to do anything like juggle on a tight rope! We were safely on the ground! The instructor was brilliant, he could juggle with 6 balls. We took turns at all sorts of things; there were devil sticks, Diablos, juggling balls, and plastic plates that you could spin on sticks. We played a few games and had the chance to show off a bit at the end when we could show the rest of the group what we could do the best!

We had a great week, the food was brilliant and we came back exhausted but very pleased with ourselves.
