Welcome to Lynton Primary School
Lynton School is to be found in the old village of Lynton, situated on the very attractive coastline of North Devon and within the Exmoor National Park.
Lynton with Lynmouth has a population of approx. 2,000 with the nearest towns of Ilfracombe, Barnstaple and Minehead being 20 miles away.
The history of the school building goes back to 1844. Various additions have been built over the years, the most extensive being the modernisation of 1975. Further major building works took place during the Spring/Summer Term of 2002 with the addition of a new classroom, reception area and offices at ground level and internal alterations to incorporate a multi-purpose hall, providing the very best accommodation for our pupils.
At Lynton C.E. Primary School we endeavour to provide a happy, caring environment
within which all children enjoy learning and feel confident that their contribution is
valued. We hope to provide a wide range of balanced learning opportunities for all and encourage individuals to maximise their potential. We actively promote self-confidence and encourage independence and responsibility. It is said, "that nothing succeeds like success", and we strive to give every child the experience of success and a sense of satisfaction throughout their educational experience at Lynton.
As a Church of England School, we are also interested in the spiritual and moral
development of our pupils. We hope to help them realise that tolerance and respect for others is vital if they are to successfully fulfil their role within the school community, village community and wider world community.
We believe that children can only achieve their best if there is close co-operation
between home and school. Parents/carers are encouraged to share in their child's
education and we endeavour to help parents/carers understand the aims and objectives of the school and how these are supported in the educational programme followed by the children at home.
